Now that you're done with Act One, it's time to tangle with Act Two. There are, again, multiple paths to complete this Act, but they do intertwine at points. We're made a note of where this happens so you can experience as much of the story as possible.

It's made even more tangible thanks to the absurd level of interactivity. Baldur's Gate 3 fully embraces the flexible nature of D&D, turning it into an immersive sim where, if you can imagine it, you can probably do it.

A sequel, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II was developed by Black Isle Studios and released in 2004 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox; the game used the same gameplay style as the original, and was also positively reviewed. The gameplay style was expanded to make the game more like a role-playing game, the ability to craft weapons, armor and amulets was added, Baldur's Gate became a hub city with the addition of a world map and being able to travel back to areas, making the game open world and many more side-quests were added as well as the ability to level up one's class.

Baldur's Gate 3 was criticized for being unlike the original RPGs and more of a 'Divinity 3,' but one Larian designer says the games are just about the same things

The first game in the series was Baldur's Gate and introduces the player character as a powerless orphan raised in the monastery of Candlekeep, south of Baldur's Gate and north of the kingdom of Amn. The main character searches for the killer of their foster father Gorion, and becomes involved with the region's iron crisis which causes metal to crumble, while battling to stay alive.

Just recently started playing BD3. Pleased to say it is very close to live role play, it is feeling very realistic. Done three very shorts runs and each time the game has developed totally different, which is cool. Choices and actions really do make a difference.

We loved what our modding community did with DOS2, and we’re excited to see what they’ll do with BG3. Modding will be supported, but somewhere after 1.0, not during Early Access.

Some players may opt to make their own custom characters instead, but you may miss out on character specific events and dialogue choices. Any Origin characters you and your party members don't pick can be encountered while playing the game and become your companions.

You can also throw any random objects from your inventory, or find things scattered around the battlefield itself. I especially love to sneak around before I've been spotted Baldur's Gate 3 GamePlay and drop a boulder, a hanging brazier or whatever else I can find as an opening to combat. It just makes me deliriously happy to start a fight by instantly crushing some fools.

Will Lae'zel's strength and determination be enough to prove herself to Queen Vlaakith, or must she walk another path in exile?

The combat system can be a bit cumbersome to get accustomed to for BG3 players new to D&D. There's a large variety of things you can do each turn, and even things like elevation and the surface you're standing on can affect attacks.

His body is forever tainted by the intricate, patterned scarring Cazador carved upon his back, and the elder vampire seems set on sending out waves of hunters seeking to capture his lost spawn.

I'm not much of a min-maxer, especially not in story-driven RPGs, but Baldur's Gate 3 makes experimenting with weird builds an absolute delight. For me it's not so much about making tiny changes to squeeze a bit more damage here or there, but rather playing around with items and spells to see what sort of mayhem I can cause.

You'll want to be at least a level three before venturing to the Underdark, but if that's you ticked off already, we have more tips for what to expect down there.
